The Poison of Feminism: Lies and Guise of "Equality"

The Dangers of Feminism: A Call Back to God's Design

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today we are diving into a topic that is not only contentious in the world, but one that is beginning to infiltrate our churches and hearts: feminism. The modern feminist movement, much like a wolf in sheep's clothing, often presents itself as a voice for equality, justice, and freedom. However, as we will see today, feminism, in its current form, is nothing more than a tool of deception, designed to destroy God's beautiful design for men, women, and the family unit.

In our society, there is growing pressure to conform to the ideologies of feminism. We hear slogans like "Feminism is the radical notion that women are people" or "Women deserve equal rights." On the surface, these phrases may seem harmless, even noble. But when we peel back the layers, we find that they are not merely political statements—they are theological ones. They touch the very essence of God's plan for His creation.

The Lies of Feminism:

  1. Feminism is Built on a Lie—Patriarchy Theory:

The foundation of modern feminism rests upon patriarchy theory—the idea that men have systematically oppressed women throughout history and continue to benefit from this oppression. This theory is not just a political tool; it is a theological lie that undermines the truth of God's design for men and women. The Bible tells us that men and women were created by God, in His image, with distinct yet complementary roles (Genesis 1:27). The idea that men are inherently oppressive and women are perpetual victims is a distortion of the truth.

Feminism teaches that men are the enemy, that they are oppressors by nature. But the Bible paints a very different picture. Men and women are equally valuable in God’s eyes, both made to reflect His image, and both given unique roles to fulfill. When we buy into the feminist narrative, we not only distort God's creation, but we create division where God intended unity.

  2. The Feminist Movement Was Not Always About Equality:

We often think of the early feminists as champions for women's rights, pleading for fair treatment and justice. Indeed, they were instrumental in ending the evils of slavery. But we must not forget that their worldview was radically different from the biblical view of men and women. Figures like Susan B. Anthony and Emma Goldman were vocal in their disdain for marriage and the role of women as wives and mothers. They saw marriage as a trap, an institution that kept women in servitude and slavery to men.

They advocated for women to be freed not from sin, but from the oppression of men.

This should serve as a warning to us today. Feminism has always been more than a movement for equality—it has been, at its core, an attack on God's design for the family. If we look at the fruits of feminism today, we see broken homes, destroyed marriages, and a society that has rejected God's plan for the family.

  3. The #MeToo Movement: A Deeper Lie:

The #MeToo movement is another manifestation of the feminist agenda, one that, at first glance, may seem to be about protecting women from sexual abuse. But upon closer inspection, we see that it does not offer true justice. The #MeToo movement fails to distinguish between different kinds of sin. It treats all allegations as if they are of the same severity, erasing the biblical distinction between sins and crimes.

While we, as the Church, must stand firmly against sexual abuse and offer hope and healing to victims, the #MeToo movement does not bring true justice. It is a tool of the elites that distracts from the root causes of sexual sin—things like pornography, which only feed the very system of abuse the movement claims to fight. As Christians, we must stand for justice, but we must also see the flaws in the feminist narrative that refuses to acknowledge the role of sin in this broken world.

  4. The Lie of Intersectionality:

Intersectionality is a key principle in modern feminism. It teaches that oppression is experienced at the intersection of various identities—such as gender, race, and sexual orientation. The more "oppressed" identities you can claim, the more virtuous and enlightened you are. This movement places your worth on the basis of your victimhood, rather than the truth that we are all made in the image of God and that our worth is found in Him alone.

Scripture teaches us that we are not to judge one another based on external appearances or social status (James 2:1-9). Yet intersectionality encourages exactly that. It is a divisive force that pits people against one another, creating more division in a world that is already broken.

The Political Manipulation Behind Feminism

It is important for us to understand that feminism, especially in its modern form, is not only a social movement but also a powerful political tool. Behind the scenes, feminism has been manipulated and leveraged to advance political agendas that go far beyond women's rights. It has been used to push policies that have had devastating consequences for society.

One of the most significant and tragic outcomes of the feminist movement has been the legalization and normalization of abortion. The feminist push for "reproductive rights" has given way to a culture that celebrates the destruction of innocent life in the womb. This is one of the most profound atrocities of our time, and it is directly tied to the feminist agenda.

The political forces that have championed abortion rights have often used feminism as a cover to push these policies, claiming that women must have the "right to choose." But the truth is, abortion is the murder of the most vulnerable among us, and no amount of political rhetoric can change that fact.

Feminism has also been used to justify other societal ills, such as the devaluation of marriage, the breakdown of the family, and the acceptance of sexual immorality. The political strategy behind feminism often involves creating divisions—between men and women, between races, between classes—so that the state can step in as the solution.

This is a classic tactic used to gain power, as it exploits human brokenness and seeks to replace the authority of God with the power of the state.

The Call to Return to God's Design:

What you believe about men and women is not just a political issue—it is a theological one. The foundation of any biblical worldview on this issue is rooted in what God has said about us and our roles. Our beliefs about the nature and purpose of men and women flow from what we believe about God’s design. And, beloved, God’s design is good.

  • Men and women are equal in value—created in God’s image, each with unique roles to play in His plan. There is no room for superiority or inferiority, but rather a beautiful partnership that reflects the unity of the Godhead.

  • Marriage is a beautiful picture of Christ and the Church—Feminism seeks to destroy this picture by undermining the role of wives and mothers. But God’s Word calls us to embrace this role as sacred, valuable, and integral to His plan for the world.

  • Women’s work is of immeasurable value—The Reformers understood this, and so should we. Whether a woman is called to the home, to the workplace, or to serve in the church, her work is of eternal significance when done in faith and obedience to God.

  • We are called to be obedient to God’s Word—Feminism, at its core, encourages rebellion against God’s design. It tells us that we can find freedom by rejecting God’s plan for marriage, for the family, and for gender. But the Bible tells us that true freedom comes through obedience to God’s Word (John 8:32).

Conclusion

In conclusion, the feminist movement, in its modern form, is a poison that seeks to destroy the good and perfect design that God has established for men and women. It is a tool used by the elites to destabilize the family and the very foundations of society. As Christians, we must reject these lies and instead, embrace God’s truth about our roles, our relationships, and our purpose.

It is time for us to stop partnering with the world. We are called to be separate, to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, to live according to the truth of God’s Word, and not the deceptive lies of this world.

Brothers and sisters, let us stand firm in our faith and in God’s design. Let us be women and men who embrace our roles with joy, knowing that in doing so, we reflect the image of our Creator. Let us reject the poison of feminism, and instead, drink deeply from the well of truth that God has given us.

Let's pray,

Heavenly Father, We come before You today, acknowledging Your perfect design for men and women, and recognizing the beauty and purpose You have woven into our lives. Lord, we confess that the world’s ideals often lead us astray, and we ask for Your wisdom and discernment to see the truth clearly. Help us to reject the lies of this world, especially those that seek to distort Your plan for our lives, our marriages, and our families.
Father, we pray for strength and courage to stand firm in Your Word, to embrace the roles You have called us to, and to live in a way that brings glory to Your name. Protect our hearts from the influence of secular ideologies, and fill us with the truth of Your love, grace, and divine purpose.
We lift up those who have been deceived by the lies of the feminist movement, asking that You open their eyes to Your truth and lead them to the freedom found in obedience to Your Word. Heal the brokenness in our world, Lord, and restore Your design for marriage and family in our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

May we find our worth, our purpose, and our fulfillment in Christ alone.
