Sexxx and Soul Ties

Updated: 5 days ago

Good morning Church Warriors! Today, I want to talk about a sensitive but important topic: sex before marriage. I know this is a subject that can make people uncomfortable, but it’s something we need to address with honesty, love, and grace. God’s Word gives us guidance, not to restrict us, but to protect us and lead us into His best for our lives.

Why Does God Say No?

Let’s start with a simple question: Why does God say no to sex before marriage? Is He trying to keep us from enjoying life? Absolutely not! God created sex as a beautiful and powerful gift meant to be shared between a husband and wife. It’s a way to bond deeply, to express love, and to create life.

But here’s the thing: with great power comes great responsibility. Sex is more than just a physical act—it’s deeply spiritual and emotional. Genesis 2:24 says,

“That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.”

When two people have sex, they’re not just joining their bodies—they’re joining their souls. This is what the Bible means when it says they “become one flesh.”

God’s design is for that bond to happen in the safety of a committed, lifelong marriage. Outside of that context, it can lead to heartbreak, confusion, and damage to our spiritual and emotional well-being.

The Danger of Soul Ties

Let’s talk about soul ties. A soul tie happens when two people become deeply connected, not just physically but emotionally and spiritually. When you have sex with someone, you’re tying your soul to theirs. If that person has been with other people, you’re not just connecting to them—you’re also connecting to the baggage and brokenness they may carry from their past relationships.

Think of it like this: Imagine gluing two pieces of paper together and then trying to pull them apart. It’s impossible to separate them without leaving pieces of one on the other. That’s what happens when we form soul ties outside of God’s plan. We carry pieces of those people with us, and it can weigh us down emotionally, spiritually, and even physically.

But here’s the good news: God can set you free from those soul ties.

Becoming a Born-Again Virgin

Maybe you’re sitting here today thinking, “I’ve already messed up. Is it too late for me?” Let me tell you something: God is in the business of redemption. It’s never too late for a fresh start. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says,

“If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

When you give your life to Jesus, He makes you new. That means you can become a “born-again virgin.” You can start fresh, walking in God’s plan for purity from this day forward.

The Spiritual Impact of Soul Ties: Opening Doors to Demonic Oppression

Let’s go even deeper into why God designed sex to be within the covenant of marriage. When we step outside of His plan, we not only risk emotional and spiritual damage but also open ourselves up to demonic oppression. The Bible warns us about this in Ephesians 6:12:

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

When we form soul ties through sex outside of marriage, we expose ourselves to more than just heartbreak—we open spiritual doors that invite demons like anxiety, depression, addiction, and fear into our lives.

How Demons Can Enter Through Soul Ties

Sex is not just a physical act; it is a spiritual exchange. When you join yourself to someone, you are not just sharing your body but also opening your spirit to their spiritual baggage. If that person is battling demons—whether it’s addiction, depression, anxiety, or other forms of oppression—you may unintentionally invite those same spirits into your life.

And it doesn’t stop there. If that person has had other partners, you may also inherit the spiritual baggage of those partners. It’s a ripple effect. The enemy loves this because it creates chaos, confusion, and bondage in your life.

Biblical Example: A Warning from Paul

In 1 Corinthians 6:16-18, Paul says:

“Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, ‘The two will become one flesh.’ But whoever is united with the Lord is one with Him in spirit. Flee from sexual immorality.”

Paul is making it clear: when you engage in sexual immorality, you are uniting yourself not just physically but spiritually with that person. If that person is carrying spiritual darkness, you’re inviting it into your life.

The Dangers of Spiritual Transfer

Let’s look at some real-life examples of how this happens:

  1. Anxiety and Depression: You might find yourself battling overwhelming fear or sadness after forming a soul tie with someone who has struggled with these issues.

  2. Addiction: If your partner has struggled with addiction, you may find yourself suddenly tempted or battling with substances or behaviors you’ve never struggled with before.

  3. Fear and Anger: These emotions can become overwhelming when tied to someone who hasn’t dealt with their own spiritual baggage.

These aren’t coincidences. They are spiritual realities. When you step outside of God’s plan, you open yourself up to the influence of the enemy.

Breaking Free from Demonic Influence Through Breaking Soul Ties

Here’s the good news: God’s power is greater than any demon or spiritual bondage. If you’ve found yourself under attack due to soul ties, you don’t have to stay there. God has given us the tools to break free:

  1. Repentance: Confess your sins to God. Acknowledge the areas where you stepped outside His will, and ask for His forgiveness.

  2. Renunciation: Speak out loud and break any soul ties you’ve formed. Declare the authority of Jesus over your life. For example, you can pray:

“In the name of Jesus, I renounce every soul tie formed through sexual immorality. I break every spiritual connection that is not of God and declare myself free through the blood of Jesus Christ.”

  1. Deliverance: Ask God to deliver you from any demonic influences that have entered your life. James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

  2. Fasting and Prayer: This is a powerful way to strengthen your spirit and break spiritual chains. As Jesus said in Matthew 17:21, “This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

  3.  Renew Your Mind: Fill your heart and mind with God’s truth. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Read the Bible, pray, and surround yourself with people who encourage you to follow God’s plan.

  4. Rely on God’s Grace: You can’t do this on your own, but the good news is, you don’t have to. God’s grace is sufficient for you. Lean on Him for strength and guidance.

God’s Promise of Restoration

Isaiah 61:1 declares:

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.”

God doesn’t just forgive you—He restores you. He wants to set you free from every chain the enemy has placed on your life. But it starts with surrender.

Encouragement for the Journey

Remember, God is not looking to condemn you. He wants to heal you, set you free, and bring you into His perfect plan. If you’ve been battling anxiety, depression, addiction, or other struggles, take heart: the enemy doesn’t get the final say - Jesus does. He has already won the victory for you on the cross. You don’t have to live in bondage. You can be free.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You acknowledging the ways we’ve stepped outside of Your plan. Forgive us for forming soul ties that have led to spiritual and emotional struggles. In the name of Jesus, we renounce every soul tie and break every chain the enemy has placed on us. Set us free from anxiety, depression, addiction, and any other demonic influences. Restore us, renew us, and help us walk in the purity and freedom that You have for us. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

You don’t have to carry the weight of soul ties any longer. Trust in God, rely on His strength, and walk in the freedom He offers you. You are loved, redeemed, and victorious in Christ!
