The Firm Foundation: God’s Word on the Shape and Age of the Earth

Introduction: The War of Words and Worlds

Beloved brothers and sisters,

We are living in an age of confusion—a fog deliberately conjured by the father of lies himself (John 8:44). Satan’s deceptions reach beyond morality and doctrine. He has twisted even our understanding of creation itself—the very ground beneath our feet, the sky above our heads, and the age of this world.

But God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). His Word is truth (John 17:17), infallible and eternal. And if we claim to trust that Word, then we must not ignore what it plainly reveals about the earth’s shape, its foundation, and its age. Let us return to the solid rock of Scripture, rejecting the shifting sands of man’s so-called science.

1. A Fixed and Flat Earth: God’s Testimony Is Clear

“He established the earth upon its foundations, so that it will not move forever and ever.” —Psalm 104:5

Scripture does not leave this to speculation—the earth is fixed, immovable, and established. This is not poetic imagery; it is divine revelation. Contrast that with NASA’s claims: we spin at 1,000 mph, orbit at 67,000 mph, and hurtle through space at over a million mph—yet feel nothing and see nothing. Why? Because it’s a lie.

“It is He who sits above the circle of the earth…” —Isaiah 40:22The Hebrew word used is chûg, meaning a circle or compass—a flat, circular shape, not a sphere. Had God meant “ball,” He would have used dur. He didn’t.

“It is changed like clay under the seal…” —Job 38:13–14Seals flatten clay. This is an image of compression, not curvature. A globe does not emerge from this metaphor.

“I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth…” —Revelation 7:1Corners? On a globe? The plain reading of Scripture suggests a square or rectangular plane. God's Word describes a flat, structured earth—not a spinning, orbiting sphere.

2. The Heavens Declare a Vaulted Firmament

“Then God said, ‘Let there be a firmament… to divide the waters from the waters.’” —Genesis 1:6–8

The Hebrew word raqia means a solid expanse—a vault, a firm dome. God placed it between the waters above and the earth below. It is not symbolic; it is structural.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the firmament shows His handiwork.” —Psalm 19:1What shows His handiwork? The firmament, not empty space. It is seen, declared, and praised. Scripture never once mentions "outer space"—only the heavens, the firmament, and the waters above.

“Then God made two great lights… and set them in the firmament of the heavens.” —Genesis 1:16–17The sun, moon, and stars are not billions of miles away—they are set in the firmament, close, and designed to serve the earth.

3. Unchanging Constellations: A Celestial Witness

If Earth truly spun, wobbled, and careened through the universe, the stars would appear in random chaos. Yet:

• Constellations like Orion and the Pleiades return season after season, unchanged and faithful.

“Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades or loose the cords of Orion?” —Job 38:31–33God does not describe a chaotic universe. He speaks of order, structure, and fixed seasons. The heavens are calculated, not chaotic—a celestial clock, not a cosmic accident.

4. The Lie of Space: No Man Breaks God's Vault

“God made the two great lights… and set them in the firmament…” —Genesis 1:14–18

God placed the sun and moon within the firmament—not outside it. There is no mention of millions of miles or light-years in Scripture.

“It is He who builds His upper chambers in the heavens and has founded His vaulted dome over the earth…” —Amos 9:6The heavens are not boundless voids. They are chambers, a vaulted dome, constructed by God.

NASA admits in technical documents—such as the Gemini and Orion mission reports—that the Van Allen radiation belts present a barrier we cannot yet solve. So how did men pass through them in the 1960s? The answer: they didn’t.

Satan wants to reach heaven—“I will ascend above the heights of the clouds” (Isaiah 14:14). But man cannot break what God has sealed. The firmament is His ceiling.

5. A Young Earth: Genealogy, Not Geology

Reject the billions-of-years deception. God gave us a clear, traceable timeline:

• Adam to Abraham: ~2,000 years (Genesis 5 & 11)

• Christ to now: ~2,000 years

The earth is approximately 6,000 to 7,000 years old—a span consistent with Scripture and history.

“For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth…” —Exodus 20:11Six literal days. Not ages. Not epochs. Defined clearly: “And the evening and the morning were the first day” (Genesis 1:5).

“From the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.” —Mark 10:6Jesus affirms it. Man existed from the beginning, not billions of years after a Big Bang.

Conclusion: Satan’s Cosmic Deception

Satan’s ambition was always to be “like the Most High” (Isaiah 14:14). What better way to mimic and mock God than by counterfeiting the cosmos, erasing the firmament, and spinning the earth into oblivion?

If Earth is a random speck in an infinite void, then God seems distant, even absent. But if we dwell on a flat, immovable plane beneath His firmament, then we are living in His temple, under His eye, upon His foundation.

This is not just a doctrinal detail—it is a spiritual battlefield. The shape of the earth speaks to the authority of its Creator. The age of the earth testifies to the urgency of His return.

Choose today whom you will believe—NASA or the Lord. Let the Word of God be true, and every man a liar. —Romans 3:4

Stand on that Word. Stand on the firm foundation. Proclaim it. Defend it. And never apologize for believing exactly what God has said.
