I AM A SOLDIER

I am a soldier in the army of my God! The Lord Jesus Christ is my Commanding Officer! The Holy Bible is my code of conduct! Faith, prayer and the Word are my weapons of warfare! I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by adversity and tested by fire! I am a volunteer in this army, and I am enlisted for eternity! I will either retire in this army at the rapture or die in this army; but I will not get out, sell out, be talked out or pushed out! I am faithful, reliable, capable and dependable!
If my God needs me, I am there! If He needs me in Sunday School, to teach children, work with youth, help adults or just sit and learn, He can use me, because I am there! I am a soldier! I am not a baby! I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up, pumped up, picked up or pepped up!
I am a soldier! No one has to call me, remind me, write me, visit me, entice me or lure me! I am a soldier! I am not a wimp! I am in place, saluting my King, obeying His orders, praising His name and building His kingdom!
No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, candy or give me handouts! I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for or catered to! I am committed! I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to turn me around! I cannot be discouraged enough to turn me aside! I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit! When Jesus called me into this army, I had nothing! If I end up with nothing, I will still come out even! I will win! My God will supply all my needs!
I am more than a conqueror! I will always triumph! I can do all things through Christ! Devils cannot defeat me! People cannot disillusion me! Weather cannot weary me! Sickness cannot stop me! Battles cannot beat me! Money cannot buy me! Governments cannot silence me and HELL CANNOT HANDLE ME!
I am a soldier! Even death cannot destroy me! For when my commander calls me from this battlefield, He will promote me to a captain and then bring me back to rule this world with HIM!

WARRIORS FOR CHRIST

Today, I want to remind you of something powerful – you are not just a believer; you are a soldier in the army of the Lord. We are engaged in a spiritual battle, and God has equipped each of us to stand firm, fight, and claim victory through Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul writes in 2 Timothy 2:3-4,

"Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer."

Paul knew that following Christ required the mindset of a soldier – disciplined, focused, and unwavering. Let me tell you today – YOU ARE A SOLDIER.

THE CALL TO ARMS

When you gave your life to Christ, you enlisted in God’s army. This isn’t a life of comfort and ease. It’s a call to battle. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us:

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

We face an enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. But take heart – our victory is secured through Christ. The enemy may prowl, but he cannot prevail.

DRESSED FOR BATTLE

A soldier doesn’t go into battle unarmed. Ephesians 6:11 tells us to:

"Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes."

Let me break it down for you – God’s armor is essential for every believer:

  • The Belt of Truth – Ground yourself in the truth of God’s Word.

  • The Breastplate of Righteousness – Guard your heart by living righteously.

  • The Shoes of Peace – Walk confidently in the peace that comes from the gospel.

  • The Shield of Faith – Deflect the fiery arrows of doubt and fear.

  • The Helmet of Salvation – Protect your mind by remembering your salvation.

  • The Sword of the Spirit – Arm yourself with Scripture, God’s Word.

You are not defenseless! God has fully equipped you to withstand the enemy.

TRAINING AND ENDURANCE

A good soldier trains consistently. Prayer, fasting, studying the Word, and gathering with fellow believers are part of your spiritual training. Hebrews 12:1 encourages us:

"Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

The battles you face are not to break you, but to build you. Every hardship is preparing you for greater victories ahead.

STAYING FOCUSED

Soldiers don’t get distracted by civilian affairs. They stay focused on the mission. Paul reminds us in Philippians 3:14:

"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Don’t allow the distractions of the world to pull you away from your mission. Stay focused on Christ. He is your Commander, and He leads you to victory.

VICTORY BELONGS TO YOU

Church, hear me today – victory is already yours. Romans 8:37 declares:

"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."

You are more than a conqueror! Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. The battle may rage, but the war is won. Jesus has already secured the victory.

NEVER RETREAT

A soldier never retreats. Galatians 6:9 encourages us:

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

Even when you feel weary, press on. Stand firm. Fight the good fight of faith. God is with you, and He will strengthen you.

Lets pray,

Lord, we stand before You as soldiers in Your mighty army. Strengthen our hands for battle, and fortify our hearts with courage. Let us never retreat, never waver, and never surrender. We trust You, our Commander, to lead us in victory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
